There's plenty of action and intrigue, but it's written in a more deliberate and "weightier" style. Ironically I'd probably describe it as the antithesis of Kevin J. Anderson's writing style, if that makes any sense, or tells you what you're getting in to.

I think it's quite good, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. I've heard people describe it as "boring," but I tend to think they're reacting to the style rather than the substance.
