Not necessarily discussed, just commented on. Rebekah Send a noteboard - 13/10/2009 11:22:04 AM
I read them if it was a book I was interested in and haven't bought yet, or maybe one i've read to see what other people are saying.

Hokay.

Not really. I mostly use reviews to check out a book i may be interested in, because I haven't read it, then how can I comment on it? By the time I do get around to reading, assuming I do, then the review is ancient history.

Not even a little "Thanks for the review/heads up?letting me know that I shouldn't touch this book with a 10-foot pole"?

This changes in 2 circumstances that I can see a) You have 2 people who have read it and have disagreeing views, or b) You have a fanatical following clustered in one area around a specific series/author. Case in point, the WOT board, which will disect any review pre-release to an inch of it's life.

Yeah.

See my commenst above, it's hard for reviews to kickstart discussion. Indeed it's hard for such a widespread genre specific board to kickstart discussions about books outside the big titles, because most people simply haven't read the lesser known ones. Solving that conundrum is the holy grail of genre rather than author/series book sites, in my opinion anyway.

That makes sense. Maybe the book clubs can help with the lesser-known authors thing.

Not really. It's just one of those things. I'm so helpful :P

Yes, yes you are. ><img class=' />
