I love listening to stories. ViolentKai Send a noteboard - 13/10/2009 06:55:24 PM
My big problem is that audio books are so expensive. But I do a lot of driving and usually by myself. Also, I like the whole story and a lot of the audio books that I have found don't give you the whole story, just an abridgement.

The idea of music in the background sounds great. I love listening to almost every kind of music, but it would definitely need to fit the scene and not take it over. Sometimes in movies, I find myself listening to the music more than the story, and a lot of the times when that happens the music can give the story away and make it predictable. That would be the only problem that I could see happening.

And the point about bad readers is very valid. A bad voice actor can ruin the story.

So I guess it just boils down to three factors, at least for me.

1. Whether or not the story is abridged.

2. Whether the background music is actually in the background or not and if it is subtle enough to not give the story away.

3. Whether or not I can stand the voice actor's interpretation of the story. (i.e. Am I going to be thinking more about the story or about how annoying the voice is.)
