I loved discovering Tolkien all on my own. This is one of the reasons why the films make me so angry. It takes away that chance to pick up a book with a cool title and an odd cover and discover how absolutely brilliant it is.

I might nudge them a little in the direction of The Neverending Story. And Tolkien. And Gaiman. And Pratchett. And Adams.
