...any of Neil Gaiman? All of his stuff is standalone, even if it isn't as much of "fantasy" as a lot of other authors.

I think I've read all his novels so far. Haven't read any of his other stuff.

If you like Terry Pratchett, a good place to start for Gaiman is their collaborative work "Good Omens" about the end of the world.

What Koontz books have you been reading? I haven't read a lot of his recent stuff.

Intensity, The Darkest Evening of the Year,The Eyes of Darkness, Life Expectancy, The Taking...
For standalone novels, the only one that really comes to mind is Brandon Sanderson's Elantris. I really liked it, don't know if you've read it yet.

I like Sanderson...I may have read Elantris already.
