Glass Coffin Girls by Paul Jessup.

Published "end of 2009" by PS Publishing, a tiny independent publisher in the UK, the book has 9 (apparently; I could only see 8 in my ARC...) stories of the weird and wonderful. There are princesses who steal things, resurrections, art made out of misery, jars full of rain (weirder than it sounds) and foxes who save people. There are voices in walls, feral children, a girl in thorns and a surreal war.

Surreal is probably the best way to describe the book. It starts off slightly weird and gets more and more so with each story - and more and more disturbing.

The stories are mostly well-written, but could use a decent editor to remove little mistakes and keep them tight. Overall, though, definitely a decent read, and I'll be keeping an eye on Mr Jessup in the future.

Hmm. Not sure how I can get it over here. It's not on amazon which is probably the best shot. - 19/11/2009 07:53:42 PM 268 Views
I imagine the publisher's website is the best bet. - 19/11/2009 09:35:29 PM 284 Views
I thought you were going to suggest Horacio Quiroga. *NM* - 20/11/2009 12:26:16 AM 126 Views
