I Suspected As Much. The Name With No Man Send a noteboard - 01/12/2009 06:13:25 PM
How does this relate to Pratchett?

Now you have to read something I recommend. It's only fair. ;)

Your very odd use of the colon confused me.
But I'm afraid I won't be adding anything much to my reading list any time soon. Too much work to do.

Work is bad. Reading is good. The solution appears clear. :P

I doubt my supervisor would see it that way.

They never do. That is their work, you know. ;)
Which Pratchett did you read?

The Fifth Elephant. Good but not great, IMHO, but I don't know how representative it is of the series, nor how it would improve against the backdrop of previous ones. Such is the nature of buying used, but I'm a cheap SOB, and there are many Half Price Books stores here.

You might have been better off with a stand-alone (like Small Gods) or an earlier book (like Wyrd Sisters or Guards! Guards!) for your first Pratchett, but I remember Fifth Elephant as rather good. It does rely on the background he has established in the earlier books, though.

I really should've made better use of that huge gulf of unproductive time I refer to as "most of the last two decades." :<img class=' />
