What was he making his money from before 2007? Joker Send a noteboard - 15/12/2009 06:51:28 PM
and countless projects he is constantly working on and feel like he has forgotten the people that made any of his other success possible. <-------- That's the nice way to put it.

Him insisting on continuing to write ASoIaF is completely disrespectful to fans of his incomplete 'Thousand Worlds' short story sequence and FEVRE DREAM, the long-promised sequel to which is about 25 years overdue. What about the BLACK AND WHITE AND RED ALL OVER and AVALON novels that were interrupted by GAME OF THRONES in 1991? And he should also get his ass back to Hollywood and finish off some of those long-ago-promised TV projects. These are, after all, the projects that made his name and paid for his houses and lifestyle, and those of us who bought his earlier books and short stories have every right to tell him to drop this epic fantasy distraction and get back to his REAL writing. Probably.

By the way, ASoIaF did not become GRRM's primary source of income until about 2007, and even that is down to HBO finally buying the TV rights to the books rather than sales of the books by themselves.

I can't imagine Fevre Dream or Wild Cards or whatever was outselling aSoIaF, even before HBO bought the rights.

We've all heard Neil "You think he's God" Gaiman's stupid thoughts. Many of us disagree. *NM* - 10/12/2009 03:55:17 PM 305 Views
