by the way, since I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet but I'm fairly sure this one does have truly international renown: James Gurney's Dinotopia.


That is one of my treasures. I was so impressed with the artwork in that. I really couldn't afford that book back then but bought it anyway because I just had to have it. Sadly, my kids were never taken enough with it to actually want to read all of it. Maybe it has been waiting for little Johnny all this time. Maybe He will get why I loved it so much.
