I think the Russian literature book club is a lovely idea.
I've only read the Nightwatch series and one book by the Strugatsky brothers, so I really like this idea of yours. I even got two of those books in by bookshelves.
I've never read Doctor Zhivago before so I'm looking forward to it. Though, my Swedish/French teacher at High School let my class watch the movie in our Swedish/literature subject (instead of reading the book, I guess). She was quite weird, as all French teachers are
(at least all I've come across).
I'll try to participate as much as possible, but I'm not sure that I will be able to participate/read the books within the stated time. The spring will be a very busy time for my PhD-studies.

We're happy with that...I was trying to make sure we didn't fracture things too much.

Are you guys going to recommend a particular translation of each book for us non-Russophones?

Uh...I hadn't thought about that. I will try to find out which translations are better.

I would recommend the Max Hayward/Manya Harari translation.

Good thing that translation is the main one available in the US (the tradeback form)

Rebekah says there's a good reason for it to be in December. So I'll just go with the plan. *NM*

Actually, I'm not sure what the reasoning would be, other than to space things out.

All of Nabokov's significant work was written in English while he was living abroad.
