Nicholas is an avid reader, and so is Sheila. So far I haven't said much about the books except when the TV series deviates a lot from the books. I like that we are all sharing something, but it's only a matter of time before they want to start reading the books. Should I warn them?


Yes, warn them.

I think it's a rare thing for the TV adaptation to be so much better than the books. Should I let them pick up the books and be dissapointed and/or horrified, or should I throw them out like I should have years ago? (the books, I mean). What would you do?


Not having seen the show, I can't say whether they'd be disappointed in the books, in comparison. But you should throw them out. If they want to read them, let them buy them. If they don't like them and they're there to read for free they might still read after the first one. If they have to buy them, maybe they'd rather spend the money on something else (season 2? ;) ).
