My mom was looking for something new to read recently. She told me she wanted something that was not her normal stuff to read. Not the sappy romance, not historical non-fiction, and not Star Wars or a Preston/Child book.
Knowing that my mom is a history buff, especially medieval history, I thought that ASOIAF would be a good series for her to start. The first book doesn't really have to much 'hard' fantasy (very few sorcery elements) and the series is heavy on the knights/kings/politics type stuff.
She flew through the first book and took the second from me. I only found this out after I went looking for it one day this week and couldn't find it. I thought I just couldn't remember where I left it, but no...she came over one day and took it. She hasn't reached SOS yet, but I know she will LOVE that.
But yeah, she loves the series already...and doesn't realize that the series isn't completed, and that the next book is still not out yet.
but when she does find out....I expect she will be very displeased with me.
