It's a documented fact that fewer and fewer people read. The people who DO read tend to buy large numbers of books. Ebooks is essentially an attempt to split the small community of book lovers into two camps, which will only increase the cost of printing actual books and start to strangle the industry.
If I read books with a utilitarian aim (extraction of information for application to life situations and/or work) then perhaps ebooks would make sense.
However, most people who read do so for pleasure. The act of reading is enjoyable. You can't "curl up with a good ebook" and I certainly hope you never can. The printed word, bound in a nice hardcover and stamped in ink onto crisp pages, is what I like.

That'd be great. My school rents out standard ebook readers now, so it won't be long. *NM*
