The lovely Benjamin (also known as Fearless Leader) loaned me his copy of this book at the weekend. I'm not sure I'm glad about that now, after reading it.
The book frustrated me the whole way through. It's pretty derivative, which I think is intentional, but he doesn't (IMO) turn it on its head enough to make that acceptable.
I've rarely read about a character who turned me off as much as Quentin, and all the rest of them were only partially realised.
Am slightly disappointed, I think. I was hoping for something more.
What did you think, my fellow Rafonauts?

Lev Grossman's The Magicians = frustrating.
