That being said, the entire competition doesn't make sense because Cthulhu should have won. The actual story in which it made it's first appearance did not involve cultists - Jaime could have been investigating the island, accidentally awakened It due to Tyrions' poking around, and then been pulled to a place outside of human space and time.
