Norways Immigration Directorate denied my visa on rather messed up grounds; we're appealing, but they're only now getting around to appointing someone to consider the appeal, and assure us of a decision any time between now and Christmas. So much for my attending the Edinburgh Gathering; it was only going to happen if I could do it on the way to Norway or for a few hundred dollars round trip after I moved, and I can't enter Norway at all while my visa is under consideration. When I know more I'll share more, but everyone holding mid-August open to attend my wedding has those dates back. Tentatively; part of my frustration is that they COULD greenlight me tomorrow, so it's hard to make any kind of plans. Despite the fact they required a wedding date in the visa application, so Maht had to book a chapel and reception hall, as well as get a dress, for a wedding we're now postponing until they tell us otherwise. Perhaps the best part is that after telling us the initial application would take six months to process, they gave us three weeks from the date they denied it to provide them an original appeal letter signed by both of us (again, I can't legally enter Norway right now, but my fiancee lives there. )

We ARE getting married. Just don't ask me when....

For anyone curious why these are threads rather than Journal Entries: 1) Journals don't notify you when people reply and 2) nearly all the RAFOlk I know visit the CMB every day or two; they don't all hit the Journal page.
