And the oil just keeps gushing up. We've really screwed the pooch this time.

... no pun intended.

I can't even fathom how long it will take for the area to fully recover from this, especially since it's getting worse as time goes by. Anything that depends on the water for its survival is screwed in increasingly large areas -- and the list of things that depend on water for survival is a very long one.

Images like these should be everywhere, so people can fully understand the impact this is having. This is in no way one of those things where it will go away if everyone looks the other way.
