And that makes sense - you're supposed to be concerned with what your children are learning, and from whom. And when that hypersensitivity is engaged, even the smallest thing off will appear threatening.
That is why there is controversy; because he's talking to the children. From what I can tell from the speech he's steering far clear of partisanship or propaganda, but it doesn't matter; some people are uncomfortable with the idea, especially if they don't agree with Obama.
