The word means "fox" in English.
As for the character and his story, it is settled in California during a time when it was a Spanish colony, and Zorro himselft spent some time in Spain. So it is actually American/Spanish.
But you can be sure it is not dutch, so you should be on the safe side.
I'll be more enthusiastic about encouraging thinking outside the box when
there's evidence of any thinking going on inside it.
