The Reason the New York Yankees ownership would buy any other sporting business would be to make money. If they don't think it can be profitable they won't buy it. With the passing of George Steinbreiner, the ownership of the NY Yankees is now mostly corporate and as such will be making decisions on profits and losses.
All good things come to those who wait.
