What, so we can have the excuse for writing shitty posts?

There are plenty of ugly words in the dictionary that are completely uncontentious. Tell you what, why don't you try and tip the balance the other way by making up some aesthetic neologisms?
Neologism is a good, solid word.

I think it's all interwoven, to be honest. I suspect there are plenty of people who don't give a damn about religion, except when it's possible to use it as a justification for imposing their viewpoint on others, at which point it becomes convenient to thump the family Bible. And a lot of religious people who might be more liberal were it not for their religion. It's all part of the same cultural package.
I very highly doubt that in the United States there exists any significant number of people against gay marriage who don't care about religion and only use it further their cause. It certainly has not been my experience that people down here have any real motivation against homosexuals/gay marriage other than what they think the Bible says.
"We feel safe when we read what we recognise, what does not challenge our way of thinking.... a steady acceptance of pre-arranged patterns leads to the inability to question what we are told."

It's a shame forum posts don't have "Sent from my iPhone" at the bottom like e-mails do.
