6 to 12 months is about right... Mix Send a noteboard - 22/08/2010 02:57:40 AM
The Liberal (Conservative) Party doesn't have 71 seats. The coalition of 4 parties (Liberal Party, National Party, Liberal-National Party (Qld) and Country Liberal Party (NT) has 71 seats.

That's absolutely correct, yes. I blame the fact that it was 1 in the morning, and I'd just been watching 7 hours of election coverage.

I was also trying to keep it simple for people who may not be as familiar with the system.

2 or 3 Independents will support the Coalition the other independent and the Greens will support the ALP. Even if the coalition gets up they it will not be long until the next election.

I give it 6 to 12 months, regardless. And I doubt Gillard will be in charge then.

Yep if Abbot becomes PM the ALP will go into melt down and he will quickly see his polls go up, once he is in a winning spot and before the ALP can recover he will call an election.

If the Gillard holds on then she will be in the weakest position of any PM ever and all abbot will need to do is sit back and wait for the inevitably.
