At the moment the weirdest thing about Scotland is that the Scottish National Party government have just announced that a referendum on full independence is no longer on the agenda. That strikes me as the weirdest thing I've heard in a long time.
Well. They know that if there was a referendum now it would fail because of the economy (and the majority of people not wanting independence yet). And then, if it failed they would lose the next election.
So. It's all a bid to stay in power come May next year.
