I'm sure we recycled more place names from Britain and Ireland than from anywhere else, but Birmingham, AL is probably the most successful example, so naturally I think of it rather than the English city when I hear the name.

I'm not sure it won't backfire as a marketing tool; I only played it three times (finally getting close to 25k) because once it starts recycling locations the game gets to be more like Concentration than Risk.
I dunno, it looks like a fairly impressive list of destinations to me, including a few I doubt most Americans have heard of. But of course there are more challenging geography games out there, at least one of which has been posted about here (or on wotmania) before.
Yeah, I'd never heard of Palma de Mallorca. I can land the plane right on top of it every time now though, and that's kinda my point.
On the other hand, I doubt many people are booking international flights to say, Sebastopol, TX; as long as you get the major destinations you'll satisfy most travelers.EDIT: Confirmed; first time out after this morning my score's already up to 26.5k, and even in the third round I was able to get within 30 miles of a couple cities. Obviously there are some gimmes (Istanbul) but if an American can place a Belgian city within 30 miles despite the absence of even national borders, there aren't enough destinations to make for a viable game. Trust the Germans to know how to find Belgium....
In fairness, if you can be 30 miles off for Brussels, that circle would cover most of Belgium.

For me as a European geography buff, the challenge is mostly in pinpointing the exact location of cities, particularly those in Central and Eastern Europe after the country borders disappear - that's fairly tricky. But with the red dots I'm fairly sure I could do all of them without mistakes, yes, which I can't say for more serious geography games.

I never go far enough east on those. And I'm old enough that asking me to spot cities in the Baltic States, Ukraine etc. is a little mean "they're all in the USSR; I don't know where!!!"
