I thought it was a seperate type, with butternut squash being one type of squash and other similar squashes existing but seperate from courgettes. That would be much more sensible - go make them change the naming system

They are different, but it's the same family of plant. Same viney growth, same style of flower. Sheesh, learn something, wouldya?!
