Even for the times the response seems extreme, and rather draconian (it's popular in some circles to argue for chemical castration of pedophiles these days, but I'd bet dollars to donuts the British didn't do that in the '50s. ) A sad and shameful tale with a sad and shameful ending. Not that I'd say Turings inestimable contributions to both Britain and CS should give him a blank check to commit heinous crimes, but that's not what he did. I can't help wondering why he didn't leave for a more enlightened country, but the fact is he shouldn't have had to do so.
