These posts are almost never about the person's actual positions on issues that matter but boil down to little more then personal attacks. Even when they do address an issue there is no desire to discuss the issue instead the poster just wants to hear people them him or her how justified their outrage is. We see more debate around about who is stupid then we do about which policies are best and why. What we see is “I hate this person and I want you to hate them with me”. This site used to be more interesting then that.
The simple fact that people get offended because their personal attacks are not accepted by everyone else as valid and fundamental says more about the person making them than it does about the target of the attack.
