Being worried about worldly issues and being annoyed by an obnoxious coworker are not mutually exclusive. I think it's perfectly normal to be annoyed by somebody that repeats the same shit over and over. That doesn't say anything negative about the annoyee.

Also, worldly issues are not usually in-your-face at work; annoying fucking coworkers are.
