I also wouldn't mind having an air marshal on every flight. I don't think that's very cheap though.
Look, I have anxiety over flying that approaches crippling levels. The existence of terrorism does not help my mental state when traveling. There exists a (mercifully small) part of my mind that would like little better than for everyone to be strip-searched and cross-examined before gettin on a plane, but that isn't how our society works, thanks be to God.
The government should stop grandstanding and start helpin people realize that terrorism only really works when you let it. That doesn't mean stand back and watch a flight go down every month, but it also doesn't mean form a toxic culture of fear surrounding a largely illusory threat.
