That is exactly the question I'm wrestling with. Sareitha Sedai Send a noteboard - 01/12/2010 02:37:14 PM
Plus, with the price tag being pretty much the exact same between the two models, I think right now you're getting more bang for your buck out of the iPad.

Maybe the next gen of Samsung tabs will be a better choice, but right now it would be hard for me to recommend the Galaxy tab to anyone.

I know it seems like I'd be getting more for the money with the iPad, but if I am not sure what he'd actually use it for (other than as a cool toy) then I have to think about what I do think he'll use it for, and that's as an e-reader, taking it back and forth to work and taking on flights/trips (for both work and play, internet/e-mail/etc.), and possibly as a GPS. I am not convinced based on my assessment of his use that the iPad is the way to go. I can't see him using it to watch TV/movies unless it's away from home. I can't see him using it to play games much at all, but certainly not unless he's away from home. Does the seemingly more portable GT still not really measure up in your opinion? I don't care that it has cameras and I don't care about Flash, but the multitasking might be a factor. Although nobody we know with iPhones or iPads really seems to miss it...

Like I said to Wulf, I think what I'll do is buy him one of them, probably the iPad now thanks to all of your input, close enough to Christmas that I can have him play with both and see which one he really wants.

This is way too hard :D Thanks for your help!
