Despite the big money, or even because of it.
A pro sport should be:
1. Run economically. Teams should make money, not waste it. Hollywood doesn't make movies so Abu Dhabi or Russian billionairs can finance them, and so should any other entertainment be run. Aiming for an economically sound competition would banish stupidities like this year's Real Madrid, and lead us to point 2 :
2. Some method of distributing talent. Yes, just like the American draft system. Why should a team like Southampton always fight against relegation and Man U always be at the top? Shouldn't sport be all about a fair chance ?
If American sport was run like world football, a team like the Green Bay Packers or even the Chicago Bulls would never have a chance.
