When we camp at state parks I always keep a fan running just I don't get woken up by other people around me.

I got semi-addicted to that when Alicia came through and half our house lost power due to the fact we were on two separate transformers; there was no central AC, it was August and hurricane humidity, so a small electric fan blowing right in my face was my only hope of sleep. Needless to say, I didn't die, despite the fact I went to sleep nearly every night for the next ten years with that same little fan blowing in my face.
