A lot of times when I am going to book store I have my wife and daughter with me and they don't read scfi. At Barnes and Knobles my wife can look for books for my daughter and herself while try and read the back of every book that catches my eye and stike up conversations with random strangers.
Would you shop at a small bookstore that sells only SciFi/Fantasy books?

Virtually every comic book store in the country is essentially "only fantasy/sci-fi".

You'd probably want to add in RPGs and some SFF merchandise
