You can't possibly decide there was no educational value unless you have interviewed the students and lecturers in question and examined the demonstration in question.

However we can certainly say that there is the strong potential for learning. Several reports have raised issues around people's poor level of knowledge surrounding sexuality. And the portrayal of sexuality through pornography is believed to be causing many problems by creating unrealistic expectations. The chance to witness a genuine demonstration of female sexual arousal in a controlled environment should be welcomed by any psychology student with an interest in the area, one that would be hard to replicate through other means. I know that if sexuality was an area I had been interested in, such a demonstration would have been very beneficial in helping me to increase my understanding and knowledge of the field.

And as for students picking this topic because it is cool, so what? Who picks a subject because they think it will be boring?
