I mean, what the hell. They refused to offer Andrea Pirlo an acceptable three year contract. Pirlo, who is without any doubt the best Italian player of his generation, and a club icon at AC Milan - and they let him go off to Juventus just like that?
His iconic status would be the only reason to keep him, it's been a while since he played well, and milan still needs to work on being faster. While he might be brilliant at times, Pirlo has too many bad games nowadays to make him worth the money... Milan has started a rejuvenation process, and that is what has provided enough energy to win the league. Pirlo just played one third of the games, and with his advancing years, injuries will probably be more commonplace. Getting rid of him or offering him a low money contract is the right thing to do.
