If it's one like <a href="http://img.tootoo.com/mytootoo/upload/47/473902/product/473902_d4edc68039d857ff339bf6f9e10b53b0.jpg">this</a> or <a href="http://www.securitytagstore.com/admin/uploadedfiles/Supertag.jpg">this</a>, they generally have an ink or dye inside them which not only ruins the clothes, but gets all over you too, and is pretty much impossible to get off.

If you can make it back to the store, let them know the date and roughly the time you bought them, and they'll be able to find the reciept in their till system. If you can produce the same card you used to pay for it, it shouldn't be a problem.
