that wouldn't be a valid even if anyone was suggesting a 50% tax bracket for anyone - Edit 1

the great thing about being a political pundit who denies he is one is he can say what ever silly crap he likes and then throw his hands in the air and say "hey I am just a comedian". JS is a witty man but you have to ask yourself is he smart enough to know he is full of shit and his fans don't care or is he drinking his own kool-aid.

All that math is cute but really not relevant since A no one is suggesting the poor be taxed at that rate and B his little chart is meaningless since we tax based income not net worth. JS might have a valid if he was honestly representing the republican position by suggesting they want balance the budget by raising taxes on the poor. Since they haven't he is just a blow hard comedian with fans who suck up his BS without question because he tells the truth they want to hear and has edited video to prove it for them and the world makes sense and they can feel justified in their much deserved feeling of superiority over all the fools who don't think like they do.

With such fuzzy logic it isn't hard to see why the country got tired of a liberal government so quickly.
