You're leaving out the fact that the article is mostly about not knowing, how there is an increased risk of meeting an unknown sibling, and that the information should be available for those who would mind on any level. Choosing to be with someone regardless of what others think isn't the same as accidentally doing so because of ignorance.
Aside from that, we have many laws that aren't exactly fair, but this is one that actually makes sense on genetic issues.

Well, I really wasn't commenting on the article or the sperm donor thing at all. The talk in the comments about who are and aren't allowed to have children and how the reasons and justifications for it are obvious to everyone just rubbed me the wrong way. I like consistency and hate hypocrisy. I also think injustice is injustice, even when the only ones who suffer are a tiny, tiny minory that disgust everyone else. And I don't think the fact there are and always will be laws that are unfair means we shouldn't complain about the laws that are unfair. Call me crazy.
