Yes, bad things happen elsewhere. We're not allowed to grieve/mourn/honor the tragedy that happened close to us? This is the most worrisome event for those in the US, and the closest hitting.

You can argue numbers, saying that natural disasters have had much bigger death tolls than this, and I'll agree. But it isn't a numbers game. It's about the intent of the attack, and what that caused. Haiti's public figures can mourn their earthquake. Ditto for Sudan. But neither of those affected us nearly as hard. Let us remember the events that changed us as a nation - you can do whatever the fuck you want.
