teachers don't make very much at all. People forget that, while school lets out at X O'clock, the teacher is there later, sometimes much later. Not to mention the amount of work that is done at home off the clock entirely.

I don't understand this sudden demonization of teachers either. Granted, I think American schooling is taking a turn for the worse...but it's not due to the teachers themselves. It's due to administration and governments putting a hell of a lot of stress over things like test scores, and parents compounding this stress with their nonsense. Not to say there aren't some pisspoor teachers out there. There most certainly are plenty of bad teachers! But there are bad policemen, bad clerks, bad bankers, bad doctors, bad everything. It's part of life. There's gotta be a bottom to the bell curve, so to speak.

However, none of this, except the latter, is "the teacher's fault". It may be A teacher's fault, but, in general, a majority of problems facing education are not caused by the teachers as a whole.

Hell. I've even got to give the teachers a bit of slack...an appalling disproportionate number of college education professors have never been in a classroom.
