You still don't get it, do you? - Edit 1

I've seen good teachers fired before bad ones because of tenure. I HATE tenure. But tenure does serve a purpose: it ensures that faculty can't just get under-bid for a job by the bright-eyed idealists coming in every year.
Teachers sacrifice a lot to do what they do, namely, educate our children. And in return they get blamed for all the failures, and have to try to fit to the whims of every new government that comes through.
The union system is not ideal... but for now it is all they have.
Funny how Conservatives are all for "supporting the troops" when it means sending them to die, but lose their cool when it might actually cost money to support those troops after they've sacrificed their health for the nation.
Maybe if you're not willing to pay to care for soldiers after a conflict, the conflict wasn't worthwhile in the first place. Of course, that would disrupt conservatives from getting that high everytime they start a war like they're playing with toy soldiers.
