Unless you re-legalize slavery it will never be cheaper to make things here than China.

How long have people toed the line of "Tax Breaks for the Rich! They'll make JOBS!" It has literally never worked. And yet they accuse Obama of Hair-of-the-dog thinking.
But by all means, keep rushing to the defense of the people who'd beggar you for a percentage point.
The only way to get companies to keep jobs here is by making it worth their while. So, yes, that means tax breaks for companies and the wealthy. But Obama keeps harming on about taxing them more. We no longer manufacture anything anymore because it's cheaper to do it elsewhere. Throw incentives at companies and maybe we can start creating jobs again. Otherwise, we're just going to become China, Inc. someday. We're just not going to be the superpowered economic giant anymore.
Seems like the sensible and decent thing to do would be to prosecute Americans for making poison products with exploited labor and dumping the toxic waste in the nearest river even if they happen to be doing it in another country, and make those products illegal for import into the bargain (of course, the WTO might fine the American public for unfair trade practices like refusing to subsidize slavery.) Instead, we're rolling back a century of environmental, labor and consumer protections in the name of competitiveness so that pretty soon we'll have Chinas living standard even if we don't become their subsidiary.
