Stereotypes are a must to properly set the scene. And it's true that I don't have the typographical fortitude to properly replicate Joel's style.
It's one of those things... you want to say what rt said which is "Hey, Nate, Joel wouldn't employ brevity so much in conversation."... but you also feel horrible pity for the writer trying to mimic that verboseness. And the reader who would be skipping past huge chunks of paragraphs.
