I get that, it's just surprising to me. Sareitha Sedai Send a noteboard - 10/11/2011 02:52:18 PM
It doesn't seem to me to be the kind of product where people would see a commercial and be like, "you know, come to think of it we DO need a Christmas tree!" But maybe it would make more people buy real trees than fake, I don't know. Probably depends why they made the decision in the first place.

Because they've been asked to, I'd say. Many people are employed by the industry, and it is starting to tank. So, same reason dairy farmers wanted "Got Milk?" I'm assuming?

Maybe it seems less important because of what it is, but I'm guessing it's more about keeping people in jobs than about health with the current economy.

It might just be the cynical part of me that suspects that if it had been the Republicans backing this we'd get the "OMG SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE" arguments ;)

I also think it's more a sign of the times that there would be such an uproar over a FIFTEEN CENT fee, but I guess people have priorities I don't understand.

But it's a TAX, don't you see?!

Those bastards!

I don't understand the point of advertising Christmas trees, and I'm suprised the objection isn't - 10/11/2011 02:13:49 PM 604 Views

Why are we supporting an industry that does nothing but chop down healthy trees to throw them away? - 10/11/2011 02:30:10 PM 602 Views
Well, for the most part that is the reason they were planted in the first place. - 10/11/2011 02:34:09 PM 502 Views

These are trees that are planted specifically for that purpose... and then replacements are planted. - 10/11/2011 02:42:04 PM 487 Views
