Cake is just...cake. It's always good, and it's always cake, and you should have it with just about any festive meal, since everyone wants dessert, and a cake is a nice centerpiece to it. In my understanding, the only cake that gets a distinguishing feature is a birthday cake, and that's only due to the inclusion of candles. Otherwise cake is cake, and equally good on any holiday.

Is there apparently some American or European tradition of eating cake only for certain holidays?
