I work in the county archive here, and we sometimes, but very rarely get in a personal archive like this. And it is like Christmas every time. Not only do you get preserved newspaper articles from the time, but also the readers comments to them, which gives us an insight to what people in that time thought of things. The sad thing is that most people throw this stuff away. Newpaperarticles that are out of context mean nothing to people, and to my great despair, photographs are destroyed when people no longer remember who is on them. I work mainly with photo preservation, and it kills me to hear that people burns up old pictures thinking they have no value when the people on them are forgotten.

Btw, you can scan up all of that journal, have a lokal printshop print up copies of it for you, and you have great presents for the family!
