To use myself as an example, I don't typically donate money to charitable causes except for small bits here and there when asked, even though I earn more than I need to survive. I also sometimes shop at Wal-Mart, buy products made in China by people who receive less compensation than they should, refuse to give money to homeless people after one negative experience, and eat food that is likely the end result of some form of animal cruelty in the production process. Does any of that count as selfish?
I'm guessing you mean a more active form of selfishness rather than the passive form displayed by just about everyone, but I wanted to make sure you didn't hate me. : (
