Basically it is combinatorial representation theory as applied to quantum groups. The research is the exact reason I chose to go to Glasgow, as it coincides with what I currently do.


I'll be the first to admit that, seven years after graduation, I don't remember much of my higher-level physics - but the wikipedia article for quantum groups is completely beyond me. It probably doesn't help that I dropped abstract algebra after three weeks.
