Actually the Onion came to mind as a print example.

I am vexed with them for requiring subscriptions to view more than a handful of online articles per month. Granted, I can just backspace and hit stop before the subscription prompt loads, but it seems a bit unfair they want me to pay to read something online that I could get for free on the street back home. I guess maintaining a server costs more than printing a newspaper (though the decline of print profitability argues otherwise.) </sleep deprived ramble>

I figured she was specifically looking for the term for interviewing a handful of passers-by, which is MOTS or Vox Pop, it's not really all that latin-y, considering how much of our language is latin derived, Vox Populi for 'voice of the people' isn't a particularly arcane and hard to guess one.

You are almost certainly right, but I suspect she was grateful to be informed/reminded of the other one (and know I was, since I had forgotten.)
