I keep hearing about the ND oil boom, so there is probably something to it. You could always look into working on an offshore rig, either here or there, if you do not mind only seeing your family being away from your family every other month (with the intervening months off.) Darned good money, so I am told, though rather dangerous and demanding work, but that is true in most of the oil industry.
